Student Competition for SBIFF - The 19th annual Santa Barbara Int'l Film Festival, January 30 –
February 8, 2004, is pleased to announce its second digital filmmaking competition exclusively for students currently enrolled in local Santa Barbara schools. Students are invited to participate in Rosebud Digital Filmmakers Competition, sponsored by Santa Barbara City College. Student filmmakers will submit a five (5) minute sample of their work. Participating filmmakers will be required to produce a 10 minute film, within 10 days and must comply with the guidelines of the competition.
Editing facilities will be available at the DAC lab at SBCC during specified hours. A jury consisting of members from each school will determine the winner. The winning film will screen at the Closing Night Ceremony of the festival, February 8, at the Granada Theatre.
Digital filmmaking will be an active component of this year's festival - and it's open to students from Junior High School all the way up to College. Deadline for sending in a sample of work to be considered for this competition is Friday, December 12. Titled this year, "10-10-10" no it's not a new calling card system - but it reflects what the festival is looking for from the students - 10 minutes of film in 10 days from 10 filmmakers.
